About the Degree

Since the academic year 2021/2022 The Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) offers the opportunity of studying in the new Degree of Mathematics (Grado en Matemáticas-EPES-UPM), appointed to the “Escuela Politécnica Superior de Enseñanza” (EPES).

This degree program stems from the collective desire of the various departments of Applied Mathematics in different engineering schools at UPM to teach mathematics and was established in response to the increasing demand for mathematicians in the job market.

As a university with a long-standing tradition in engineering education, UPM’s teaching project emphasizes mathematical modeling and simulation as core objectives while also focusing on the fundamental aspects of mathematics. We highly value interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement in projects spanning various areas of engineering and architecture. For example, our departmental faculty participate in research groups such as:

    • Dynamics and Nonlinear Stability in Aerospace Engineering

Furthermore, UPM is a member of the European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance (EELISA) , along with many other European universities.
The courses for the Degree in Mathematics are conducted at the School of Agricultural, Food and Biosystems Engineering, which is conveniently located in a green and pleasant campus near the center of Madrid and in close proximity to the «Ciudad Universitaria» metro station.
